Every week in the UK, around two children are diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive and life-threatening cancer.
Neuroblastoma UK is a national charity dedicated to finding a cure for neuroblastoma. For over 40 years we have funded vital research into improving both diagnosis and treatment of this terrible disease.
Many children have little in the way of symptoms and it is often hard to diagnose neuroblastoma un the early stages. Neuroblastoma, particularly ‘high risk’ neuroblastoma, often shoes itself at a late stage when it has spread around the body. For many families, the first time they hear the word ‘neuroblastoma’ is when their child is diagnosed.
Too many children are dying from neuroblastoma. Despite advances in treatment, high-risk neuroblastoma has one of the lowest survival rates of all childhood cancers. In addition, children currently receive intensive therapy that can also lead to other, lifelong health challenges.
