Guts UK is the national charity for the digestive system, and our mission is to improve the lives of the millions of people affected by digestive conditions in the UK.
Every day, millions of people across the UK live with digestive conditions that can bring numerous daily challenges affecting their quality of life, including managing pain, fatigue and other ongoing symptoms, feelings of worry, anxiety and isolation, impacting relationships, employment and studies.
For too long, our guts have been misunderstood, undervalued and underfunded. Guts UK exists to change that. Our work covers these main areas:
• Providing information and support.
Guts UK is a lifeline for people affected by with digestive conditions and symptoms. Demand for our information and support continues to increase and in 2025, we launched a dedicated Helpline to provide information, guidance and signposting over the phone and online.
• Public awareness and education.
We break the stigma surrounding our guts so that more people feel comfortable to talk about their digestive health and importantly, know when and how to seek help and support when they need it.
• Funding life-changing research into the digestive system.
Guts UK is the only UK charity funding research into the whole digestive system. By investing in the highest quality research, we can substantially accelerate progress into earlier diagnosis and improved treatment for those living with digestive conditions.
Research into the digestive system remains chronically underfunded and needs urgent investment. As a voluntary organisation, we can’t do this without your help.
